The German Shipping Museum in Bremerhaven
A few metres away from the modern harbour in Bremerhafen is the German Shipping Museum, which doesn’t attract 200,000 visitors a year for nothing. The history of German seafaring and ship building in general is presented here in a comprehensive and varied manner. From a dug out canoe to ships run on atomic power, all types of ships are represented in the museum. A particular highlight of the museum is the Hansekogge boat, which was found in the Weser and was lovingly restored over the course of 17 years. Along with the exhibitions and information offered to visitors, the museum is significant for its role in conducting comprehensive studies on German shipping. The museum signifies the perfect mixture of interesting history and fascinating technical details-why not come and see for yourself?
